Winter Storm Avery
It was a rough weekend to be me and probably everyone living on the east coast. Winter storm Avery was about to hit both physically and metaphorically to me. On Thursday the snow began along with me anxiety and panic for the next few days. It was about to be a rough and long weekend. On Friday I had LSAT tutoring in Brooklyn for the last time. I tell you it’s in Brooklyn to emphasize the hour and a half commute filled with three trains that it is. After I’d have to go right back to campus for one class then back home to Staten Island. If you know anything about the five boroughs you’d know that’s a fairly nice tour of New York City.
On Saturday I’d be taking the LSAT for the second time around. The test takes about 6 hours and begins at roughly 8 AM. It’s the mental olympics of test filled with mind games and mental tricks that leave you exhausted just after one passage. It’s fairly brutal and the time constraint is no joke. You’d think for someone who wants to be a professional in this field that the test would come naturally but the jokes on me. After 6 hours of what feels like an eternal hell I’d have to drive home and then get driven to my internship. There’s a show on Saturday nights and i have to be there late or not. It runs till about 1 AM.
It’s the only other place I’d rather be besides my bed after a test like that. You don’t have time for your own thoughts of self doubt which immediately plague you after the test. You don’t have time to think about yourself once all day. It’s kind of great cause you get a break from your own mind. Until it all comes crashing down at around 2 AM when you finally get home but at that point you’re so exhausted and sleep deprived you collapse at the sight of your bed.
It’s 10 AM on Sunday and the storm is over both physically and metaphorically. The snow almost melted immediately. I had been studying for about a year and this was the big one so now I get the go into a hibernation for about a week.
The storm is over and I can breathe again.
